Watershed Conditions Statement – February 20, 2018
Message Number: 2018-01
Issued at: February 20, 2018
Issued by: Grey Sauble Conservation Authority
TO: Watershed Municipalities and Watershed Media
Environment Canada has issued Rain Fall Warnings for our region including Grey Sauble watersheds. Across our watersheds we have received between 20 and 40 mm of rain. The forecast is calling for an additional 25 mm into this evening.
With the ground saturated and snow continuing to melt, water levels are anticipated to rise with the additional rain. Flows are currently below our average spring runoff conditions. However, localized flooding may occur in low lying areas that typically flood or are known to be impacted by ice jamming.
Flow conditions can change based on the timing, duration and intensity of the rain. Grey Sauble staff will continue to monitor weather and river conditions and will provide updates as needed. A close watch on local forecasts and conditions is recommended.
Due to the elevated flows, residents are advised to use caution near all watercourses and waterbodies.
This message will be in effect until Wednesday evening (February 21, 2018)
