New Chief Administrative Officer, Sonya Skinner
“We, the Board of Directors of the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority are pleased to welcome Sonya to her new role as our Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). We are delighted to have someone with her experience, skills and credentials joining our team,” Dick Hibma, Chair of the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority.
Most recently Mrs. Skinner was Director, Compliance Modernization at the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC). Since 2014, she has focused on a risk-based modernization of MOECC’s regulatory services and programs. The key goal of this work was to ensure resources were allocated to the right activities to meet objectives and be flexible to changing priorities. This experience will be beneficial as CAO to help guide Grey Sauble Board and Staff through planning and implementation activities for 2017 and beyond.
Mrs. Skinner, P. Eng., is set to take the helm as CAO at the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority on November 1, 2016.
Building on an impressive career in public service at the management level she has valuable skills and experience to bring to this role. She is recognized internationally as a collaborative leader and a technical speaker and writer, including as a keynote for international conferences and with national and internationally published papers. Mrs. Skinner is a Professional Engineer, she possesses Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering. In addition to leading civil works that involved environmental assessments, and natural resources planning and restoration, she has experience with operational delivery as the head of Maintenance Contracts for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, she led Asset Management and investment planning for Ontario’s provincial highways and bridges, and managed a data and GIS portfolio for five ministries including the Ministry of Education.
“As a resident of the area, I have come to appreciate the stellar quality of the shoreline, forested areas, escarpment, birding and more that can be found in this watershed,” Sonya Skinner.
With the September 30, 2016 retirement of John Cottrill from the CAO position, the Authority established a recruitment committee to fill this position with another experienced leader who could bring their talents and skills to work with the strong staff and resource compliment of the Authority. We would like to thank John for his years of service and dedication to the Authority.
