The Stewardship Technician will identify, undertake and support stewardship initiatives within the watershed to protect and enhance our water, soils and forests. The position will also serve as the Project Coordinator for the Southern Georgian Bay Shoreline Initiative (SGBSI) from Tobermory to Severn Township.
Responsibilities: Plan and carry out a variety of stewardship initiatives that will include: project development, implementation, invasive species removal, habitat restoration and plant identification. Evaluate project success, write reports, map locations of invasive species, etc, assist with funding proposals and deliverables, support SGBSI program, assist in the development of a best management practice shoreline management strategy for Southern Georgian Bay.
Requirements: University degree or college diploma in resource management/environmental studies or similar, the ability to draft and edit written materials; excellent communications skills, including the ability to draft and edit written materials and to articulate ideas in a clear and concise style to a variety of audiences; experience using GIS applications, operate GPS and ability to read maps; use Microsoft office applications; excellent organizational skills; like working outdoors that may include extensive walking and rough terrain, one year experience in a related field and valid driver’s licence.
